Southampton have no plans to sell midfielder Leo Scienza this summer after Leeds United’s interest evaporated following their free signing of Harry Wilson.

Southampton want around £35 million for Scienza, who has a contract running until 2029, according to Football Insider. The 27-year-old scored seven goals and made ten assists in 37 Championship games last season after joining from Heidenheim in 2025. Leeds had been linked with Scienza for months, but Daniel Farke’s side now see Wilson as their priority in attack.
Southampton are doing everything to keep Scienza as they aim for promotion this season. Tonda Eckert, the Saints’ manager, wants to hold onto his top players amid several potential departures. Aston Villa are also tracking Scienza’s availability, adding pressure on Southampton to decide his future.

Leeds signed Wilson on a free transfer from Fulham, filling the attacking midfield role Scienza was once linked with. Farke has reshaped his squad this summer, focusing on depth rather than specific positions. Jack Harrison, the 29-year-old winger, is also set to leave on loan again after just 13 appearances last season.

The Saints are pushing to keep Scienza while rebuilding around him. Their push for promotion comes after last season’s playoff exit, which was overshadowed by the Spygate controversy. With 82 goals scored and 56 conceded so far this campaign, Southampton sit fourth in the Championship, 15 points behind leaders Coventry.
