Notable departures include Oriol Romeu, Will Smallbone, Ross Stewart, Alex McCarthy, Joe Aribo, Jamie Jones, Charlie Taylor, and Elias Jelert, whose loan has expired. These players will leave the club as their contracts come to an end this summer. Will Smallbone, a lifelong Saint, ends an 18-year association with the club after making 90 appearances and scoring a memorable goal in the Championship play-off semi-final in 2024. Ross Stewart, who helped the club secure promotion in 2024, will also depart after a successful season. Goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, who has been with Southampton for a decade, made 165 appearances and earned a senior England cap during his time at the club. The club expresses its gratitude to all departing players for their contributions and wishes them well in their future endeavors. Additionally, several other players on professional contracts will also leave this summer, including Will Armitage, Sonnie Davis, Hugo Fisher, Will Merry, and Sam Tabares.
