Southampton are in advanced talks to sign fan favourite goalkeeper Daniel Peretz on a permanent basis, the Daily Echo understands. Peretz, 25, spent the second half of last season on loan at St Mary's and was a crucial player, making 22 league appearances with eight clean sheets. The Israeli joined from Bayern Munich, where he had spent 18 months as an understudy to Manuel Neuer before moving on loan to Hamburg. Saints signed Peretz with a fee agreed for an option to buy at the end of his loan, but still had to agree terms with the player himself to finalise a move. The Daily Echo understands that Saints are now in advanced talks to complete the permanent signing of Peretz and hope to conclude a deal this week. Peretz is keen to return to St Mary's and help the club win promotion to the Premier League, despite being presented with options to play elsewhere. The shot-stopper also had the choice of remaining with Bayern as a squad player, but looks set to pick Saints despite the club's play-off expulsion. Reports from Germany in January claimed that the fee agreed for the buy-clause was around €8million (£7million), although this is unconfirmed. Saints will also pursue the signing of fellow loanee Cyle Larin, who netted eight Championship goals before heading to the World Cup with Canada. It follows owner Dragan Solak promising supporters a team capable of promotion and 'excitement running high at St Mary's' in a recent interview.
