Southampton have signed 17-year-old midfielder Yunus Linton to a three-year professional contract with the club's Academy. The Morocco Under-17 international will initially join Andrew Surman's Under-18s side at Staplewood, with his deal running until 2029.
Andy Goldie, the club's Director of Group Talent Strategy, welcomed the new arrival. "Yunus is another exciting addition to our PDP programme, providing greater depth of competition and a different profile to what we have in the pathway," Goldie said.
He credited the club's recruitment teams for winning a competitive race for the teenager's signature. "It's great credit to our Talent Acquisition and Academy Recruitment teams, that we were able to win the race for his signature and we now look forward to supporting the next stages of his development at Staplewood."
Linton, who has developed outside the traditional academy system, earned his first call-up to the Morocco Under-17s side earlier this month. His arrival bolsters the club's youth ranks as the first team prepares for a key home derby against Portsmouth on October 11th. The club's full roster of players, from the first team down through the academy, is detailed on our squad page.
