Southampton goalkeeper Daniel Peretz has withdrawn from the Israel squad ahead of their Nations League fixtures due to a minor injury. The 26-year-old has a tight glute and slight strain, forcing him to return to the club's Staplewood training ground for assessment.

Peretz will miss Israel's matches against Kosovo on Thursday and the Republic of Ireland on Sunday. "Unfortunately, I've had to leave the national team camp early and will miss the game on Sunday," Peretz said. He also posted a thank-you message on social media, writing, "Thanks everyone for the warm messages."

Portsmouth derby concern

Southampton are hopeful he will recover in time for the south-coast derby against Portsmouth at St Mary's on Sunday. Manager Tonda Eckert is expected to be in charge for that fixture, with the Saints currently 13th in the Championship on 10 points from eight games. Their recent form reads two wins, two draws and one defeat from the last five outings.

Should Peretz be unavailable, the club's options include George Long, Jamie Jones and the experienced Aaron Ramsdale, whose last competitive appearance was six months ago while on loan at Newcastle. The derby is a key fixture in a congested schedule, with a trip to Norwich City following just three days later.
