Gillingham have completed the signing of former Southampton defender Samuel Tabares. The 19-year-old joins the League Two club after leaving Saints this summer following a two-year stay at St Mary’s. Tabares, who trialled with Gareth Ainsworth’s side earlier in the summer, has now put pen to paper on a deal, though the length of his contract has not been disclosed.
Who is Samuel Tabares?
Tabares is yet to make a senior professional appearance but has experience at under-21 level. He featured for Fulham’s U21s in the EFL Trophy against Shrewsbury Town in August 2024. The young defender will now look to establish himself in Gillingham’s first team as they prepare for the new League Two campaign.
